The origin of the great Himalayan Odyssey was in the year 1997. It is viewed as the ‘Mecca of Rides’ and it’s a dream come true for many Royal Enfield Riders. It is a ride amongst the grandest mountains on earth and it takes you from the plains of Punjab to the heights of Kashmir, including the highest motor-able road on earth. To go on this epic journey, passionate riders plan for years in advance and are also ready to wait for years before they could make it for the ride, as the registration for the Himalayan Odyssey takes place on a first come first basis with limited slots.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey 2017
Royal Enfield is hosting the 14th Edition of the ever popular and sought after rendition of the ‘Himalayan Odyssey’ this year.
Start Date: 8th July 2017 , from New Delhi
End Date: 23rd July 2017
This 16 day adventure ride will traverse approximately 2500 km in some of the roughest terrains and highest mountain passes. It will also witness 30 women participants for the year 2017, in the special Women’s edition.

Royal Enfield has started Himalayan Odyssey for women from the year 2016 to do their bit for liberation and empowerment of women. To be a part of this event, Women riders looking to find their share of thrill and adventure on two wheels can register themselves online from anywhere in the country. Himalayan Odyssey Women started with 20 women participants. Apart from the participants, the entire HO-W team will comprise of women i.e. service staff, technicians, doctors and crew will all be women.
Registering for the ‘Himalayan Odyssey’
You can register online here for the Himalayan Odyssey or visit the nearest Royal Enfield dealer for registration. You need fill form online and attach the essential documents and make the payment to get your name listed in confirmed riders list.
For successful registration, you need to take the Fitness and Treadmill test which is completed by running 5 km and by doing 50 push-ups in 50 minutes. The Himalayan Odyssey isn’t just a tough ride, but it also demands that you prove yourself fit enough for the ride. Because it is hard to control Enfield on slush, slopes and rocks and also requires more strength to conquer the sheer breathlessness at extreme altitudes.
Riding Gear & Essentials
Here are the riding gear essentials that needs to be carried for the ride
- A good quality full helmet – it’s advisable to carry 2 sets of helmet visors, a clear one and one with a tint
- Neck Protection – a multi utility head gear or buff
- A riding jacket
- Good fitting Riding Gloves
- Protective pants or riding trousers
- Purpose built riding boots
